Memories from David Brock

Susan Clickner will always be one of the most influential people in my life. Alas, Susan died Thursday night. Though I had not seen her in some time, she is always in my heart and mind when I teach. Her common sense wisdom was sometimes hard to hear, but always instructive. I loved playing in her studio and studying voice with her.

When I was hired to teach voice at Anna Maria College in Paxton, I did not have a car. Susan drove me to Worcester every week on her way to Shrewsbury. Our conversations on that drive will always be treasured! I always feel like she is sitting on my shoulder when I teach. She will always be one of the most influential people in my life.

Her creative energy lives on in many voice studios around the world.

I love the photo of her holding her beloved Sidecar. I was fortunate enough to sit across the table from her on many occasions. Such great conversations and sidecars!!!! - David Brock
