Her Professional Journey
Susan began singing in the Buffalo area at the age of 15. Her parents would drive her 300 miles every week to Potsdam to study with Dr. Helen Hosmer, director of the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam who thought Susan had a very promising voice. Dr. Hosmer made recordings of Susan singing so she could hear herself.
Her first journey away from home was to Indiana University at the age of 17 on a voice scholarship which was the start of her life in music.
