Thinking of my Grandma Mom by Yvonne Pieters
I will always think of Grandma/Mom, as I loved to call her, as sitting in a beautiful restaurant in New England with a Side Car or a fabulous Chardonnay. In the summer of 2019 I had the privilege to travel to Massachusetts to visit my wonderful friend, Jen Clickner, in her home town. We spent many afternoons in the sunroom of her sister Wendy’s house, visiting and chatting with Mom and sipping champagne. On this trip, I learned about the infamous “list” that is never far.
“The list” was a masterpiece by Grandma. She looked so forward to these summer visits that she compiled a list of the best restaurants in New England. Every single one of these restaurants were in the top 10 of New England’s best! It was such a spoil every time and I will never forget what I ate, what I drank, where we sat....
It was so special going to these places with Grandma, she had her favorite dishes and her favorite Chardonnays and knew so much about the history of New England.
I treasure all these moments I had with her. She made me feel part of the family from the start, her generosity had no bounds! I am so happy I got to know her, to spend time with her and to become so close to her daughters.
I know you are in a beautiful, pain free place, Grandma and I hope you have a perfect straight-up, sugar-rimmed side car!
